Arts Education Outreach

Each year the Austin Film Festival’s Young Filmmakers Program grants access to over 300 students nation-wide to learn more about the art and business of filmmaking. Through a series of panels and roundtables with top Hollywood screenwriters and directors, the students learn what it takes to have a career in writing and film. For this program, we partner with high schools both nationally and locally to give students unparalleled access to industry talent. The Arts Education Outreach program takes place each year during the eight-day Austin Film Festival & Screenwriters Conference. The Friday and Saturday panels during the festival are geared specifically for students and special sessions on Sunday are available for teachers. However, the students are invited to attend any day of the festival to explore and learn more about the creative business of filmmaking.
