Billy Brown

Billy Brown, an Emmy, Peabody and WGA award-winning writer and producer has been creating, writing and supervising quality film and television production for twenty-nine years, although it seems like thirty.

In 2007, along with longtime collaborator Dan Angel, Billy wrote and produced the first in a series of Direct to DVD movies in partnership with Universal Home Video and The Hatchery Entertainment:  “R.L. Stine’s The Haunting Hour: Don’t Think About It,”  premiered on The Cartoon Network to record ratings in September of 2007 and earned him a WGA writing award nomination for Best Writing in Children’s Long form. The Halloween DVD continues to sell well around the world.

Billy began his writing career as a staff writer of “Saturday Night Live” in 1980-1981.   The twists and turns of show business pulled Mr. Brown away from comedy and into the genre of suspense, thriller and horror when he co-created and wrote the Ace-Award Nominated “John Carpenter Presents Body Bags” for Showtime.

Next, Billy became the head writer for the number one hit show, “Goosebumps” for FOX Kids Network, winning the WGA Award for Best Children’s Teleplay.

From 1997 to1998, Billy served as Story Editor/Writer on “The X-Files.”

In 2001, Mr. Brown created two primetime series, “The Fearing Mind” for the Jim Henson Company and the FOX Family cable channel and “Night Visions” for Warner Brothers and FOX TV Network. “Night Visions” was reprised in 2003 on the Sci-Fi Channel for a number of years and in 2008 was reprised again by Chiller TV.

Among his other noteworthy accomplishments,  Billy – again with Dan Angel -executive-produced the movie “Door to Door,” starring William H. Macy and Helen Mirren.  In 2003 “Door to Door” was not only one of the most watched but also one of the most honored television movies of all time garnering AFI, Peabody, Emmy and Critics Choice honors.

Billy lives in Austin, Texas with his two sons, Nemo and Elias.
