The Austin Film Festival is dedicated to championing the work of aspiring and established filmmakers, defined as screenwriters, directors, editors, producers, actors and all those artists who use the language of film to tell a story. The AFF furthers the art, craft and business of filmmaking by providing unique cultural events and services, enhancing public awareness and participation, and encouraging dynamic and long-lasting community partnerships.

Action! Make a Movie, Make a Difference PSA Competition
The Austin Film Festival‚ Young Filmmakers Program and Travis County Sheriff's Office are partnering together this year to challenge Travis County students to create PSAs to educate and raise awareness of a problem that a growing number of teens are facing – dating violence and substance abuse.
As a part of the Sheriff's Office's larger program to raise awareness of the issues, students are encouraged to create and submit 30 second PSAs for entry in the competition. The winning films will be played on local TV, and screened at the 5th Annual Austin Student Filmmaking Expo, Saturday, April 25.
